December Presidency Message

Dear Sisters,
As we have this month to celebrate the birth of our Savior, I am so grateful for the Christmas carols that tell such a beautiful story of His birth.  Some of the carols make us want to shout with Joy and others cause us to bow in reverence for this most wonderful gift of the Christ child.  Can you imagine the “Little Town of Bethlehem while mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wond’ring love.  How silently, how silently the wondrous gift was given” to all the world.  And there “in a manger the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head”.  “I love thee, Lord Jesus!” and please  “bless all the dear children in thy tender care, and fit us for heaven to live with thee there.”  It all makes us want to shout out “Joy to the World, the Lord is come”.  “Oh, come, all ye faithful, Come and behold him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Christ, the Lord.”  We can only imagine the angels proclaiming “Hark, Glory to the newborn King” and then “While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks the angel of the Lord came down” and announced to them “Glad tidings of great joy I bring to you and all mankind” and “with wondering awe, the wise men saw the star in heaven springing.”  On that “Silent night! Holy Night!  All Heavenly Hosts sing Alleluia” as should we humbly proclaim our love and adoration for Him.  We are all so blessed.  All our love at the Christmas time.  Merry Christmas!

November Relief Society Presidency Message

Dear Sisters,
As I have thought about the importance of this time of year, I am reminded of the scripture in D&C 59:7 " Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things."
All things means just that: good things, difficult things - not just some things.  He has commanded us to be grateful because He knows being grateful will make us happy. Gratitude inspires happiness and carries divine influence. This is another evidence of His love.
Sister Bonnie D. Parkin says:"Gratitude is a Spirit-filled principle.  It opens our minds to a universe permeated with the richness of a living God. Through it, we become spiritually aware of the wonder of the smallest things, which gladden our hearts with their messages of God's love. '
To my remarkable, faithful sisters of the Church, I thank you for the ways you extend the Lord's love through your service: your care for families at the death of a loved one, your watchcare as you visit teach, your willingness to build testimonies in children as you serve in Primary, your time preparing young women for wonanhood.  Thank you for your devotion.  I have experienced the love of the Lord through your faithfulness.  I have been blessed to serve among you and my heart is brimming over with gratitude and love for each of you.  I have deep gratitude for the priesthood brethren with whom I've served.
My most profound gratitude is for my Savior - an obedient Son, who did all that His Father, asked and atoned for every one of us.  As I remember Him and acknowledge His goodness, I desire to be like Him. May we be blessed to feel of His love in our lives daily.  'Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." 2 Corinthianns 9:15.
Much love,
Sister Janilee Palmer

October Relief Society Message

What is your favorite scripture?”—I attended a Sunday school class a few years ago where the teacher started out the lesson with this question.  He  then the class to share them with each other.  A beautiful spirit filled the room as brothers and sister shared experiences where the scriptures had helped them in times of distress, or deep sorrows, where they had gained a testimony of a principle of the gospel, felt the love of the Savior, felt like they had been  inspired to change their lives, and on and on.  It was a strong witness to me of the strength  and power of searching the scriptures in our lives. I love this quote by Elder Richards G. Scott, “Scriptures are like packets of light that illuminate our minds and give place to guidance and inspiration from on high. They can become the key to open the channel to communion with our Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. The scriptures provide the strength of authority to our declarations when they are cited correctly. They can become stalwart friends that are not limited by geography or calendar. They are always available when needed. Their use provides a foundation of truth that can be awakened by the Holy Ghost. Learning, pondering, searching, and memorizing scriptures is like filling a filing cabinet with friends, values, and truths that can be called upon anytime, anywhere in the world.”  We are so blessed to have them literally in our hands each day with the modern conveniences available today, and testify of the strength they have given me. With love, Sister Dayna Driscoll

RELIEF SOCIETY PRESIDENCY MESSAGE--SEPTEMBER 2013
A few days ago I was outside moving the water sprinkler when I saw it- a gold leaf fallen to the ground.  Today there are several more golden leaves. This is just a little reminder that summer is coming to a close and fall is on its way. Change is inevitable of course and just a part of life. Whether the change is something good or something difficult all change forces us to adjust.  That being said I am generally resistant to change.
I remember my father told me once not to ever get too emotionally caught up in the present since it will be changing. He said if there is something good happening don’t get too set on it since it will change, and not to get too upset when things were a challenge because with time things would change and be better. I think this is pretty good advice.
Change comes. We cannot control everything in our life but we CAN control our connection to God – that is in our hands – through good times and bad. In fact I think that this connection is so important because it helps us to keep the good and the bad in life in perspective. Our God is truly unchanging and someone whose love we can always count on.  We learn in the scriptures that “… he is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (1 Ne. 10:18). We are also told to “…remember , remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds , yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, ye when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you,  it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf  of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build, they cannot fall” (Hel. 5:12).
May we remember Him, and be faithful to Him amidst all the changes in our life.        With Love,  Sister Kaylin Ure
