RELIEF SOCIETY PRESIDENCY MESSAGE--SEPTEMBER 2013
A few days ago I was outside moving the water sprinkler when I saw it- a gold leaf fallen to the ground.  Today there are several more golden leaves. This is just a little reminder that summer is coming to a close and fall is on its way. Change is inevitable of course and just a part of life. Whether the change is something good or something difficult all change forces us to adjust.  That being said I am generally resistant to change.
I remember my father told me once not to ever get too emotionally caught up in the present since it will be changing. He said if there is something good happening don’t get too set on it since it will change, and not to get too upset when things were a challenge because with time things would change and be better. I think this is pretty good advice.
Change comes. We cannot control everything in our life but we CAN control our connection to God – that is in our hands – through good times and bad. In fact I think that this connection is so important because it helps us to keep the good and the bad in life in perspective. Our God is truly unchanging and someone whose love we can always count on.  We learn in the scriptures that “… he is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (1 Ne. 10:18). We are also told to “…remember , remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds , yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, ye when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you,  it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf  of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build, they cannot fall” (Hel. 5:12).
May we remember Him, and be faithful to Him amidst all the changes in our life.        With Love,  Sister Kaylin Ure
